I think I should throw my towel into the ring here.

As I am graduating in a week, I'll have some free time (at least until/if I get a job).

If people are willing to travel, I would be willing to have something here, where I could 'show off' the 'operation'.

Otherwise, I would be willing to travel out to Denver or back to California, or anywhere in between.

I think it would be a great idea, lots of fun to get to know everyone, but I also realize the problems of COST. Even a drive out to Denver is about $150 in gas alone.

Personally, I'd be willing to drive a van-load to Utah from SoCal, perhaps picking a few up on the way. ROAD TRIP!!!

For those who can't make it to Nite's, perhaps regional micro-CONS where possible & web-cam/IM links?

I think I15 goes from SoCal to SLC - anybody close to that route interested in a ride?

Yeah, I know, we gotta do some basic stuff first, like pick a date - preferably weekendish ...

Physical limits notwithstanding' date=' I think having Nite there is a near-MUST.[/quote']

It wouldn't be NiteCON w/o him!

I saw a few guys near me, someone from New York, West Virginia and Maryland I think, If someone needs wheels, I can grab up some folks on the way, as I'm sure anyone else could. Let's determine who is serious and where we are, my mind isn't strapped that tight.

And Nite, do you have a campground near your house? Like Elderbear's avatar. Camp grounds aren't the best for computers, but I don't plan on bringing one, we just need enough juice to be able to link from group to group

If we can nail down a timeframe and set date (preferably around fall..August or even September if you ask me - i.e. not during high season) I'll check out what arrangements I can do with the travel company and if it's possible to "crash" somewhere and tag along the road trip.

Important thing though is to get the date f a s t so we all can start planning and tinkering for how to organize and such (and not to mention - booking fares early cuts down shitloads on the price!)

Why I'm not too inclined during hi-season is because the airfare for a roundtrip costs around $3000-4000! but as long as it isn't hi-season it's only around $1000 or so - which means I can instead contribute with donations for "the con"...i.e. food, gas, taxi, sleep, other, internet and so on perhaps a $300-700 or so.

....and as long as I'm not choked by the airline prices - I'm game!!

I think it's time that those of us who can, play their local lottories as often as they can.

That way, if someone hits the jackpot, they can help sponser those whom cannot financially afford to attend, and, they can push this thing along even faster. Think of the possibilities...

What are the odds tho.....

1-Arkansas

2-yes three more lightly encumbered members

3-4--if its not during Gen-con I could attend at Utah for a day with travel time 1 1/2 days each way for a total of 4 days I would prefer this be held later like late Sept or early Oct but hey beggers cant be choosers if its held on Aug 16-24 I will not be able to attend but would be willing to Cam up in Indianapolis as i will be there for GenCon I can also fly out to Utah or where ever if given enough notification but then would only be travelling solo or w family if they decide to come

5 on a scale of 1-10 I would say I was about a 6.5 on going

So: If you are COMMITTED to attending

1) SoCal.

2) Can you provide travel for others?

I've got a minivan with room for 3 or 4 riders at this point, depending on how crowded we're willing to be. I'll probably come up I-15 (goes to Utah, right?) and can p/u some on the way.

3) Provo-NiteCon is my preferred destination.

4) Right now I don't have any blackout dates except near 9/8/05.

5) I'm committed at about an 8 of 10. My desire is 10, but I've got some uncertainty to deal with in coming months.
