coolcat13
just be careful how far you all go with these posts . I am in a football group that went way political and its far worse than a Kerry V Bush boxing match . people are vehemently at each others throats and its part of why I post here now . It got way over the top .
BorisP
There's that old saying: "Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results." B) You cannot conceive of how much I abhor that saying. It is a poisonous and terrible thing. Do you know what I call doing the same thing and expecting different results? Practice. I practice my homework that I am bad at now so I get better. I expect a different result. I do my kung fu because even though I suck now, I expect things to change so I get better. That insanity saying is psychologcial sabotage. It is like saying gay is in the genes. If gay is in the genes, you are helpless so give up. What's the point. Just lay down and die. Fat is in the genes. Just give up. Go ahead and be fat. Doing things over and over again and expecting different results is not a sign of insanity, it is something that people have done since the beginning of time to improve their skill at any endeavor. BorisP
I saw someone say they agreed with BorisP to talk about anything. You gotta watch out when you agree with BorisP. That guy is like a magnet for trouble. Got banned from another forum. ;) I posted a learning thread. The guys really hated me because they don't know squat about kung fu and I do. Everyone is reading my threads and ignoring the other people. I start this thread and a Mod immediately closes it. He says "This is too stupid to talk about". I blew a gasket. It is not his job to stop "stupid" topics. It is his job to enforce the rules. Also, before he closed the thread, one person managed to ask me a question. So for 2 weeks I waited to answer that guys question. I had almost forgot about it when the funniest thing happened. I am watching a movie and right there is a picture to prove what I was writing. I would answer the one guys question perfectly. Karma knew that was the day my ban was over. I go over to the forums and start a thread, "The answer to why people who practice internal martial arts for a long time have pointy feet is...." and I posted the picture. I also said "I don't know what your problem is but you have no right to close my threads. Unless they break the rules, you need to leave them alone." The next day I am permanently banned. ;) They can't stand it that I prove I know what I am talking about. There is about 6 guys all saying I am moron, bozo, loser, stupid, blah, blah, blah. And now all of them look like fools. ;) I think people should talk about anything. The internet is perfect. If people get mad, nothing happens. No fighting, no breaking things, nothing can happen. People can say anything they want to each other. The only thing that I think should be stopped is when people cuss or go after each other in a negative way. If I say "you are ignorant and don't know what you are talking about", that is harsh, but it is within the boundary of politeness. If I say "your a #### loser and you got DDDD for brains", that is crossing the line. Seriously though, if you go look around, basically I am the one responsible for all the problems. ;) Every thread I am in are the ones closed. Go check. ;) I say gay will make you sick and people hate that. I say Isreal is working for world domination. People really really really hate that. They been brainwashed so well that the minute you say Isreal they act like you called their Momma a Ho. Really. There was a circumcision discussion some where. Some guy was bragging his organ was mutilated. If you go look into the subject, you will find that it is an Israeli custom. If circumcision is a jewish custom, then why is your organ mutilated? Are you jewish? If not, then why did they do that to you? I say it's a plot. If you got a better reason I will listen. I listen to anybody if they sound reasonable. I am not jewish and they mutilated me. I am unhappy about that. That is why I go around telling people what I think is the truth. If you check with doctors now, they say there is no medical reason for circumcision. They stopped recommending it be done. If there is no medical reason for circumcision, why are you and millions of other non jewish Americans mutilated? If you read the latest propaganda, Muslim people are the devil for doing female circumcisions. Why are jewish people the devil for doing male circumcisions? There. Let's see how long it takes someone to complain about that. Close thread, censor post, remove post, ban me........ Did you know that some really poor sport that has to have their way always went around the internet looking for information about me? Then they came back and said to elderbear "look at what a jerk BorisP is, all these people say he is a jerk, you should ban him". Isn't that an awful thing to do for just talking? What kind of deceitful and sneaky person would spend all that time finding stuff out about me and then coming back and presenting it to the authority to try to get rid of me? Dang. I just looked at the thread length. I talk to much. ;)
BorisP
Oh ya. I see someone talking about children again. Are there really truly children here? What age are they? Or are they like the bogeyman, brought out to enforce a person's desires because everyone will do what is right for children?
Soulreaper
Doing the same thing over and over again... if you aren't LEARNING anything or in a physical case "getting forward" it IS insanity wasting time on repeating that pattern because obviously you are going to get the same results. Honing skills is not actually repeating the SAME thing over and over again. If I play bass doing certain moves it may seem as I do something over and over, but I'm moving forward, getting faster, going stronger, getting better and thus I'm improving, I'm not standing still (which is what that quote is about). I'm not going to "waste time" and space giving examples. It's a case of apples and pears.... hm it's 5:37 AM I don't think I'm writing my best reply but it should be sufficient.. [Edit]: This is fairly off topic... how about getting back to topic? -- IDEAS (on topic): "Quarks'" (Bar) could work.. "The Q Continuum" - where everything is possible.. Guest c4evap
I voted for #1. Seriously , you can only talk so much about TV shows before you have covered all the main topics. Since this is predominately a Sci-Fi site that means they get covered pretty quick and very thoroughly. So I see nothing wrong with variety. Of course there should be limits to where that goes - but whose limits ? Just a suggestion but how about a seperate section of the forum for the more "controversial" subjects - where discussion can be a bit more "free". I have seen other sites with sections put aside for just such things (including a "Flaming Section" for those who seem to enjoy that thing) It would be a way for the majority of the Site to stay firmly focused on Sci-Fi and still give an area for ppl to get "radical". That way if you don't wanna get into those sort of topics you stay clear of that section - and anyone who does wanna stir it up has somewhere to post rather than in the main sections. Just my thoughts , wadda you guys think...? Excellent idea. I don't think we should be limited to just Sci/Fi topics. Special topic sections would be nice but could we maintain a family friendly atmosphere? That might be difficult. There is so much more to talk about and share. Variety is the spice of life. c4 B)

B) You cannot conceive of how much I abhor that saying. It is a poisonous and terrible thing. Do you know what I call doing the same thing and expecting different results? Practice. If your practice doesn't change how you do things, then it's not working - you're not improving! ;) But I agree, to an extent - most aphorisms are oversimplified and have important exceptions! Doing things over and over again and expecting different results is not a sign of insanity, it is something that people have done since the beginning of time to improve their skill at any endeavor. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results has a very different meaning, and I appreciate your qualification and expansion - it is a root of wisdom ... They been brainwashed so well that the minute you say Isreal they act like you called their Momma a Ho. Really. We already know that I disagree with you about gay. I don't agree with you entirely about Israel, either, but I think you're not altogether wrong. I still remember the Liberty incident. And notice - the thread stays open ... not because I agree with you, but because it's still well behaved. When people follow the posting rules, I'll endeavor not to close a thread or delete posts. TetsuoShima
Well, I don't care what people talk about, as long as it 's a decent conversation and it's talking place in the appropriate forum all's fine for me. If I'm not interested in the subject, I can always choose not to participate in the discussion.
