DirkDiggler
Does anyone know if theres anything in the Dr who history that says the Dr cannot regen into a women? i think T'Pol from Enterprsie would be very fetching eye candy!!
S0V13T
Am I the only one that T'pol dosent do a thing for? I mean honestly, she's really not 'all that and a bag of chips'. Hoshi was much more attractive, imo. But whatever. I think that they keep te doctor male for traditions sake. Keeping in mind how old the series is, and how many Doctors there have been I can only imagine the fans outrage if the next incarnation of The Doctor (as in the TimeLord) was a woman. It just wouldn't feel right. My god, what if Rose became The Doctor (I have No idea how the Doctor regenerates, so that might not even be an option) I think that since the show is so damned old, they keep The Doctor (as in the TimeLord sence) male, becuase only men could be Doctors (as in the medical sence) during much of the shows history. //Fan of Doctor Who for 5 episodes

S0V13T
Fan of Dr Who for 5 episodes? 4 new ones I take it' date=' what other 1.[/quote'] Whoops, you're right! For some reason I thought there were 5 Eps of the new series out. Just looking a little TOO forward to next weeks ep, me thinks. I do however remember seeing the TV movie all those years back, and loving it. Wish that the Torrent was still alive for it now (very subtle request for a new torrent). RSAntilles: I hear ya man. I remember in one of the TNG DVD extras, marina Sirtis (sp?) was in wardrobe and was talking about the 'Starfleet Issued Bra" That gave her and gates McFadden some awesome boosting power. tinpusher
The Doctor WAS a woman in 2 episodes. One episode was a spoof called "The curse of the fatal death," the other was called "Exile" and starred Arabella Weir as The Doctor. This was a Big Finish Audio officially sanctioned by the BBC. Hrimmer
Curse Of The Fatal Death... Best episode ever! (OK, perhaps not, but I love that episode!) The Doctor WAS a woman in 2 episodes. Why do you men always think in these terms? if dr who regenerated into a woman i would like to see someone intelligent and charismatic and funny as well as beautiful i would love to see joanna lumely (CURSE OF THE FATAL DEATH) have a go as a 'serious' Doctor. I Think she would be perfect in the role>

Why do you men always think in these terms? Boys will be boys. Why else would the omnipotent Q2 when set loose on Voyager make one of his first activities to undress Seven of Nine? Apparently, in any species they have similar flaws. ;) I'm not one who would care for a female Doctor. But my favorite is Patrick Troughton (Eccleston a close runnerup) and he is so for his "paternal" qualities. I can't imagine a maternal Doctor getting their companions in one near-death adventure after another. Seems an irresponsible thing for a woman to do. I prefer the female presence be quality companions who can teach even the Doc a thing or two.
DirkDiggler
Ensign pella, why do men think in these terms? well for a start, because for the most part men find attractive women,,,um attractive strangely enough, a little sexist maybe but even in this PC world its a fact of life, but your point about being good looking and intelligent to boot is valid and taken on board, sorry for any offence ;)

WreckGar
Wreckgar' date=' thnx or the info, being a newish who fan i havent seen those episodes, oh and wasnt wreckgar a transformer? :p[/quote'] Yes, Wreck-Gar was the leader of the Junkions. He spoke in television commercial cliches... his brain was just as much a collection of junk as his home. Not unlike me. ;) You can't see those episodes, the Unbounds are part of the Big Finish Dr. Who audio series. The fine gentleman TinPusher has six torrents in the Dr. Who section containing all the Big Finish Dr. Who stuff (except Shada I think) to date, including the Unbound series. Unbound is a sort of "alternate reality" where the old-school Dr. Who continuity has been tossed off and the writers just do whatever they want to. Pella
Ensign pella' date=' why do men think in these terms? well for a start, because for the most part men find attractive women,,,um attractive strangely enough, a little sexist maybe but even in this PC world its a fact of life, but your point about being good looking and intelligent to boot is valid and taken on board, sorry for any offence ;)[/quote'] i wasn't offended, more just resigned. We all ogle - like you say it's a fact of life. For example I think Paul McGann is absolutely gorgeous, but that wasn't the reason that enjoyed his performance as the 8th Doctor or why I continue to enjoy his performances in the Big Finish audios. I'd love to see Dr Who regenerate into a woman, if for the only reason to raise acceptance of transgendered people like myself. It's not going to happen though, because when RTD was asked about regenerating Doctor Who into a woman he has been quoted as saying "No, because eight year olds would never understand why Doctor Who has lost his willy." From someone who has wrote groundbreaking television and is instrumental in getting homosexuality accepted on British television I find this remark is disgusting. I guess whatever you do or say you'll end up offending someone. The reason why it would be wrong to regenerate the Doctor into a woman seems fairly simple. It would inconsistent to portray a character who has identified themselves firmly as one thing as something else suddenly. While the Doctor may change in some ways, the rules of the process have been firmly established: he will never transform into anything apart from a humanoid male. In any case, would it be fair to anyone to force someone to be something they are not? On the other hand, it is quite possible for a Doctor to be female, and a Gallifreyan. Maybe after the 13th regeneration.
Fenriswolf
I was a bit dismayed by RTDs comments re: a female Doctor, quite blinkered if you ask me.
Pella
And besides, really the gender of the Doctor doesn't matter - the character's morale outlook, wonderlust, sense of adventure would all be the same. That's what the makes the doctor - the personality and the old fashioned sense of heroism in this dark age of anti-heroes.
