Dr Who A Woman?

Lumley would probably be about the only person that could pull it off imho.....

It would be difficult for anyone to do a good job of it when the doc is so established in his gender after 40 years....... It would take a hundred weight of hormones to shift perceptions of him as being male.

I loved the first openly bi character being in the new who series.... that should have set some nazi a-holes on a big hate and denial trip :) gotta love anything that iritates bigots!!!!!!

And besides' date=' really the gender of the Doctor doesn't matter - the character's morale outlook, wonderlust, sense of adventure would all be the same. That's what the makes the doctor - the personality and the old fashioned sense of heroism in this dark age of anti-heroes.[/quote']

Right-e-o! Agree 100%. I think a female doctor would be an advantage. Everyone knows there's not enough blood in the human body to run the brain and the "willie" at the same time. :p Women have a natural advantage.

I don't know... I think it's pretty logical for a time lord to always regenerate the same gender that they were born. Anything else at this point would seem like a tacked-on ratings ploy. After 10 shots, he would have become a girl at least 5 times through pure random chance, after all... there are only two options, after all ^^'

As far as the brain-willie theory? Riiight... Sexism, no? Hearing it from either side is annoying as hell and a rather tacky as a joke, imho. That's just my opinion, though.

Edit: ... and no, I don't agree with RTD's explanation either... or DirkDiggler's ;p

Edit 2: ... and if I seem to lack a sense of humor, it's because I've been around WAY too many guys AND girls who have actually used those inane sayings seriously to exclude people from various things ;p ... it's just a peeve of mine.

Well, at least you did realize that it IS a joke...so all hope is not lost. At any rate...no offense meant. As a woman I can tell you that WE put up with a lot more "jokes" than men do...just ask any blonde!

As for your comment "After 10 shots, he would have become a girl at least 5 times through pure random chance, after all... there are only two options, after all"...not so. There are many shades of gender that are now being recognized by the medical community. Variety is the spice of life!

Genetically' date=' there are two... XX and XY. All others are built by culture... like all other good things ^_^[/quote']

Man, you need to do some serious Google time on the XX and XY thing. As a transsexual woman I know. Check it out.

EDIT: Caught your quote before you changed it. Who's fast?

Think I'm gonna let this subject die. Seems my last post was moderated. I think it's getting to be a bit too PC around here. If you like we can take up the subject by email. You'll find my email addy under my profile.

EDIT: Have a nice evening!

Sex is biological, but gender is socially constructed. So, it is possible to be biologically born into a certain sex, but have a different gender identity. XX and XY are not the only combinations either. Some people are born X0 (X only), with extra Xs, for example, XXY, and some XYY. These are rare, but they do happen. As long as you have at least two XXs, your sex is female. See, for example: http://Http://anthro.palomar.edu/abnormal/abnormal_5.htm

As for the Doctor as a woman, it's already been done by a filmmaker in the U.S.

"In the 1980s, a Seattle-based filmmaker named Ryan K. Johnson produced

four movies with a female Doctor. They were:

Doctor Who: The Wrath of Eukor (1984) 30 minutes

Doctor Who: Visions of Utomu (1986) 32 minutes

Pentagon West (1987) 28 minutes

Doctor Who: Broken Doors (1988) 20 minutes

You can still get copies directly from Ryan by sending him a blank VHS tape

and enough money for return postage to:

Hmmm.... it seems unfair and unpolite to point out that I'm more than aware of the first and second sentences, but hey I'm a petty sort of girl

Thanks for the links, I definitely going to check those out B)

I don’t see why it’s ‘unfair,’ or ‘unpolite,’ as you do have a personal understanding of the issue that most of the rest of us lack.

You’re welcome.

Well, I guess that all depends on what you want to be counted as. ;)

It only counts if you share them.
