Slightly off topic, but who would pick as the equivelent of the the first nine Doctors?

8th Doctor must be Miranda Richardson of blackadder/crying game fame.

Even slightlier off topic, I'd pic Adrian "Ade" Edmunson from The Young Ones / Bottom.

Vyvyan Basterd, Eddie Hitler, The Doctor. Just makes sense to me.

This whole "doctor as a woman" seems more of a 'gimmick' than anything else. it's like if sonone said "hey, there aren't a lot of japanese people in Dr. Who and I just love sushi, why not make the next Doctor japanese?" yeah right...

having said that Joana Lumley is hot.

here's my list of Dr. Who equivalents:

Hartnell - Maggie Smith

Throughton - Glenda Jackson

Pertwee - Joana Lumley

Tom baker - Jennifer Saunders

Davison - Miranda Richardson

Colin Baker - Victoria Lambert (played Marcie in Dark Season)

McCoy - Tracey Ullman

McGann - Kristin Scott Thomas

Hmmmm.... Romana I could be played by Hugh Grant.. ;-)

Gave it a little thought, but the only parelells I can think of between a female and The Doctor, are a few women that I've dated reminding me of William Hartnell.

Easily irritated, knows EVERYTHING, insulting, never listens or seems to be paying attention, inappropriate bursts of laughter etc....

// Sorry girls, but you know how it is some times //

Sounds like a perfect Doctor to me. :D

Yes, given what women have to put up with from men. ;)

I remember a joke, that goes something like this . . .

If God were a woman, men would be grouchy and difficult to put up with only one day a month, instead of every day. :cyclops:

Hey' date=' we have 1 choice in common (3rd Doctor) and 3 actrices in common. But what about Romana I & II ?[/quote']

Well if the Doctors are girls, then Romanas have to be boys, so

Romana 1: Hugh Grant

Romana 2: Neil Morrissey

Instead of having a female Doctor, how about having a female Time Lord go off and do her own thing Doctor style?... oh, wait. No more time lords, so it's too late to do that -_-'...

... they dabbled a bit with that with the Rani in the old series and ... I can't remember her name, from one of the Big Finish audios...

Do you mean the Gallifrey series? Or perhaps Bernice Summerfield (even to, Benny isn't a time lord?)

No' date=' there was one Big Finish episode involving a dimensionally transcendental tavern ^^[/quote']

OH, I know who you mean: Iris Wildthyme.

A sort of female parody of the Doctor. Yes I agree the stuff with here is quite good. She is getting her own audio series and I'm quite looking forward to it.
