Pella
It's probably been done to death before, but hey I'm new here! :p For the record I think Tom Baker IS the Doctor, but my favourite would have to be Paul McGann -especially after listening to the audios. It's one of the great crimes of the century that he wasn't the star of the new TV series!!! :(
Antilles
Yup, hehe been done to Death, its very close between Pertwee & Baker for me, but Pertwee JUST nips it by a whisker.
Visno
Have seen all the doctors but the newest one is the best.
Pella
I could never get into the Pertwee era. i did love 'Carnival of Monsters'. Still he's far superior to Ecceleston.
starcrunch
when you watched Carnival of monsters did you happen to check out Jon Pertwees alternate theme song? I have always liked Tom Baker, to me he is the quintesential Doctor nad can never be outdone. But I also have been coming to like Jon Pertwee more and more. Peter Davison is cool too, he brought an air a freshness to the show. I am going to blaspheme and say that I thought Sylvester McCoy was horrible!!!! blues02
Pertwee easily.
Vektram
I loved the first one, was that William Hartnell? They're reshowind Dr.Who (all of it) on TV here and he's the one that i've watched the most of, so it's no surprise.
Davros
My fav. is Tom Baker but Christopher Eccelston is really good. To bad he has quit. But all the Doctors are entertaining. (Hey wait they are all the same guy!)
coolcat13
Like I said before got to give the edge to Jon Pertwee . but for the most part I like all the doctors just because i am such a fan of the show . well C Baker and S McCoy were borderline at best I guess

TheTARDIS
Tom Baker all the way :D
blues02
Been catching up on the old Pertwee stuff' date=' and he's so refreshing after seeing Baker over and over (although I love him most) and comapred to the latter Docs. He's irascible at times without it seeming condescending or a script ploy, he really seems to have no patience, especially with Lethbridge-Stewart.[/quote'] I know, that is the great thing about him. He has no patience for overly closed minded people either. Pertwee is just great. He even makes puffy shirts with frills seem cool!
Vyperion
What no Rowan Atkinson? What about Joanna Lumley? ;) William Hartnell should be coupled with Richard Hurndall who played him in 'The Five Doctors'. Sylvester McCoy was the first and holds that place but Tom Baker was one of the best and Christopher Eccleston reminds me so much of him
WreckGar
For me it's Tom Baker - his first four seasons in particular, before they started letting the goofy humor overrun the show and completely eclipse it in his sixth season - followed by Patrick Troughton. Pella
when you watched Carnival of monsters did you happen to check out Jon Pertwees alternate theme song? lol -yes, it sounds Australian to me!!! I am going to blaspheme and say that I thought Sylvester McCoy was horrible!!!! I always thought the same about McCoy and Sophie Aldred (Ace), but since listening to Death Comes To Time and the BF audios I've completely changed my Opinion of them. I realise now it was the rest of the show and the the scripts that let their era down - not the actors. By the late 80s the show had become very pantomime-esque Still, there are two tv stories where the both shine - 'The Curse of Fenric' and 'Ghostlight', both stories were fabulous examples of Dr Who. Recoilzed
I thought McCoy's best performance was in the movie, he looked really great in the role. Just the McCoy stuff is a little to contrived (sp?)..... Pertwee is like watching Sherlock Holmes (great),Troughton had the humor, Davidson tough act to follow, the fact that I got over the Tom regeneration is testament to is performance, and Colin what a great entrance (choking Perry Whew Hew!!) and Baker could carry any role brilliantly... But #1 is still my favorite, he doesn't try to be liked, in fact he's a bit of a prick (steling stuff [Aztecs]wanting to kill [unearthly] ..... thats my kinda rouge timelord. Hawkboy
Peter Davison really takes the cake for me... he's my favourite followed by Pertwee, and Baker. I have to say I don't dislike ANY of them.... and I'll wait untill I see the whole season but Eccelstone is climbing up the list with every episode! Sunrise
Tom Baker for me, he seems to just have the right blend of seriousness/foolishness. My 2nd choice Pertwee was just too serious all the time to get my favourite. I think McCoy would have had a better chance too if he hadn't have been imprisoned by those awful scripts .... I've just watched Paradise Towers again .... blimey I'd forgotten how dire those stories were.
starcrunch
the first McCoy episode I saw was Time and the Rani, his first scenes as the Doctor are laughable at best, especially when he falls down the steps, I mean come on...wasn't there a professional in the house to tell McCoy how stupid he looked and how bad his acting was. I stand by Tom Baker, but I disagree and think his latter episodes were much better, Tom's 3rd and 4th seasons are fodder that tend to put me to sleep. But his first season was excellent. More and more though I am becoming a Pertwee Fan. Can't wait to see how David Tennant does.
RebelRaven
I'm a Troughton fan. I started a Tom Baker fan in the mid 80's (all my PBS aired), and went on to enjoy Davison (loved his first season with a full TARDIS crew). Pertwee had some shining moments (Curse of Peladon, Green Death), but I never did quite get into him. I much preferred seeing the Brigadier those years. Hartnell and Colin Baker were too irrascible for my taste. And McCoy, well he was ok, but he didn't have much to work with, did he? However, I came to be a Troughton fan after seeing Three Doctors, then Tomb of the Cybermen (his fatherly chat with the newly orphaned Victoria always tugs my heartstrings not to mention his "Now I know you're mad. I just wanted to be sure.") But after I picked up the Lost in Time DVD set last Nov, and then got the BBC missing audios, so I could experience his entire 21 stories... my love was sealed. He had a great mix of fun, zany, tender, alien, superior and vulnerability. Having said that, I did enjoy McGann as an audio Doc (not in the movie). And I'm really liking Eccleston (though he has a jerkiness to him). I just think Troughton was the most well rounded Doc.
