Bakula: Enterprise Film Is Dead

Scott Bakula, star of UPN's canceled Star Trek: Enterprise, told SCI FI Wire that plans for a movie based on the show were put on hold when the regime changed at Paramount and the network pulled the plug on the show earlier this year.

Bakula said he's willing to reprise the character of Capt. Jonathan Archer in an Enterprise film. "It's something I would be interested in doing," Bakula said in an interview at the show's wrap party in Hollywood last week.

"They haven't [asked], but the reality is that Paramount has been under such internal upheaval in the last year that right now there's really nobody that's there that is a fan of Star Trek."

I'm not sure if that would be such a good idea. I like ENT and all' date=' but I've had enough prequel for now.[/quote']

Actually, a prequel, done right, would be great........Manny was in the process of fixing ENT, but wasn't given the chance to finish.

......Let's never forget that, it's important.

Yeah seriously, I think Enterprise is good, but I don't think a movie based on it is such a good idea. Why do they wanna drop millions on a movie and not do the same on continuing the show anyway?

I'd go for a movie done right, but they're gonna have to do some post production Hoodoo to keep Trip alive if they wanna see my money at a theater. Braga's gonna have to send an engraved invitation to kiss my bottom also...

I don't think a film on Enterprise could have turned out. We need to move forward, put Trek back on track, not milking the past as Enterprise has effectively done. I like Enterprise, except for Bound, and I think Archer is a better Captain than Sisko or Janeway. If they won't make any more ENT, BAAAAAD UPN, then they should focus on making new ST adventures based well after VOY.

I have to say I've been watching Star Trek for 30+ years myself, and when the first trek movies came out, I was very reluctent to accept them. New uniforms, new sets, etc. But as I saw them, I came to love them. Then the Next Generation came along. No way was this going to rival TOS. Ever. Well, I ended up hooked on it. Now along about the time DS9 started, I stopped watching tv because most of the shows were junk. I have seen some eps of DS9 and Voyager and they weren't bad. Then came Enterprise. I still don't watch tv very much, but I have to say I love Enterprise. I am a big history buff as well, and I think that seeing the beginnings is very fascinating to me. An Enterprise movie would interest me but I can see how it wouldn't appeal to a lot of people. I wouldn't mind seeing the formation of the Federation. :)

I think that an Enterprise movie would have to have a VERY well written storyline and be very well directed. The problem is that Enterprise isn't well known enough to be a big blockbuster movie. The reduced budget would make it harder to do a good job. I'm not TOO disappointed, but if the current Trek 11 idea flies (all new cast) and it does poorly, then I WILL be upset!

Am I the only one who sees the last two replies above this one as being about 150px across?

Someone forgot to put a closing ] on their QUOTE tag. I edited their post to fix it.
