dabrood
What do you think of that? BBC news Sound promising, but too easy to be true. If that works out on humans, we have got our cryosleep/hypersleep/whateversleeep seen in so many movies including the "Alien"-series.
TetsuoShima
Not sure whether I would like to be 'put to sleep' with the smell of rotten eggs. I suspect they have a VERY long way to go before any of this can be put to practical use in space exploration. The 'closer' goals they mentioned seem more likely candidates for immediate use. In every case: I don't like the smell of it! :D
karimw786
I was hoping they'd hurry up and invent something like this! ;) Personally, I wouldn't taking a few months off (like maybe 3) and get away from the daily hustle and bustle of life here in Montreal, at least during the winter. It's TOO freakin' cold! Oh yeah, and the space exploration thing is cool too. HAHA :)
Oma
"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" - Uttered by Hamlet second before being forced into a comatose state with rotten eggs. In Denmark. The concept is way awsome - if it works in humans. Don't know if we have a 'low' setting like mice do...
tinpusher
I can even see potential uses for this that were not outlined in the article. For example, it could be used in drug rehabilitation centers to help addicts more easily cope with the withdrawl symptoms associated with such treatments. Instead of a heroin addict enduring weeks of agony, they could be put to sleep and allowed to remain in that state until their bodys had completely flushed all of the toxins and their dependancy overcome.
