ENT: Travis Mayweather?

Has anyone else wondered why the guy that plays Mayweather's name has appears in the intro credits, for like the past 3 seasons?

I've seen every ep of Enterprise.... and besides that one Season 1 (maybe 2) episode where he goes back on a freighter for a few days, that focused on him, but I'll be damned if I can remember Mayweather saying anything but "Aye sir, laying in a new course" or doing anything other then sitting at the helm, doing fukc all. Minor TOS chars like Uhura, or Chekov had more charecter development then mayweather.

You just don't like him 'cause he's black.

You're opening up a can of worms on that one bro. ;) Don't even go there.

But I agree that Mayweather has had a tough break in terms of character development. However, Hoshi has gotten even less!

I liked mayweather a lot in the pilot episode, when he was showing trip the 'sweet spot' It just seems as if him (AND Hoshi too, now that I think about it) are getting a bum deal.

And what makes you assume that I'm white, anyways synexo? :P

I disagree on that one. Hoshi had a bunch of real important scenes, far more than Travis. And her character has got a lot more facets that have been revealed so far.

FACTS:

I know Travis' father, mother, sibblings & relatives......Hoshi's as well.

I don't know Archer's mother, or T'Pol's father, or none of their sibblings.

Travis has had 4 episodes where he was the star......So has Hoshi.

Hoshi was the first one on the show to have sex.

1/3rd of Broken Bow was devoted to Hoshi.

1/5th of the Xindi arc was devoted to Hoshi.

Travis had 2 episodes almost by himself!

Hoshi & Travis were given 1/3rd of the episode "Babel".

HOSHI & TRAVIS WERE NOT TREATED UNFAIRLY.

I must agree, Travis was not brought to fruition. He was such a good character, brilliantly played but never brought to his full potential. I like the Enterprise crew much better than the Voyager crew because they are professional, they don't let trivial things get in the way of work.

I thisnk the show would have a whole different feel without Mayweather, he fill out the bridge crew perfectly, not that we know what anyone else is like in his position.

Another thing to rmember is that he is the pilot, so even withot seeing him you know he's driving and in control of the ship...and for that matter, he also pilots most away missions in the shuttle pod.

Hoshi is the same in most respects, she is neccessary to the ship and even when you don't see her much, you just know sje's doing her job.

The only thing hat I've always wondered is how Conner Trineer got billed last when his character does more. At least his character seems more imortant to me.

Alphabetical....?

And we have a winner!!!

Never even noticed that, though in another intro related bit, the first two seasons don't have Star Trek up above Enterprise, like they were scared or ashamed to mix the two. Someone mentioned this before, but I still haven't found who or why that changed. All I can think is that they didn't get lynched by Trek fans after two season, so it was safe to associate the two.

  • 2 weeks later...

Travis is just a bleak caracter and that is as much fault on writters and on the actor himself... he could have acted or demanded more caracter development and deepnes and layers but he ended up very shallow he's just a token nothing more... he's one of the little things that killed the show...

but really that is not as much a problem as greedy money-counting "big"-people-little-souls blames.... (I mean the UPN and all that stands behind mony-making greedy TV corporation and the whole American way feel for that matter)....

(BTW I'm an actor myself...)
