WreckGar
did any one catch that the Dr was saying that the Dalek was the last of its kind and somehow must have slipped through time . Now the question is could it be remotely possiable that the Daleks and the TimeLords had some truce to face a common enemy ?or maybe both sides in the time war were devestated ? Doubtful that there was a truce. The Daleks were working on their own time travel technologies in the original series that, although "crude and nasty" as The Doctor called it, did serve its purpose. Several old series stories dealt with the Daleks' ability to time travel, including THE CHASE, THE DAY OF THE DALEKS, and REMEMBRANCE OF THE DALEKS (which in its high-budget "spare no expense" wisdom used a lightning globe for the time machine prop and called it a "time controller" ;) ). DoctorWhoops
[ It's just the stuff we know about that I tend to get agitated over. It just seems that writers for shows/movies just don't seem to care how unworkable something is. For me, it kills the enteraintment value because my suspention of belief is limited by the fact that I'm not an idiot. When the plot line is based on someting I know is completely obsured, it kills it for me. BK The Britain depicted in the "Whoniverse" is a country that first sent a manned expedition to Mars in the 1950's. In 1963, Grey Daleks fought White Daleks in an area of London called Shoreditch. Later in the 60's Cybermen and Yeti both tried to take over London. In the 70's the Auton dummies attacked the country twice, there were a large amount of casualties before the Nestene Consciousness was stopped. Dinosaurs fought each other in Hyde Park. Silurians and Sea Devils awoke from hibernation, they were Earths original dominant species and humans were their slaves and livestock. The Egyptian Gods came from a planet called Horus. The Lochness Monster was seen in the River Thames. The explosion that caused life on earth and kick started evolution was caused by a malfunction in a Jaggaroth spaceship. What I'm saying is take a large pinch of salt, sit back and enjoy Who for what it is, and don't worry about real life facts, London in Who bears more similarity to Marvel Comics depiction of New York than it ever will to reality. tinpusher
The only thing that bothered me about this episode was the insipid use of the "unzipping the forehead" effect. RTD if you're reading this (which you undoubtedly are hehe) GET OVER IT, I don't need to see an effect over and over again just because your cgi department is proud of their accomplishment. tinpusher
I finally figured out why the plot for next weeks episode place Salt Lake City in peril. If they take out salt lake, then they take out niteshadw!
Antilles
Are you in SLC Nite. i thought you were in Provo...I may have dreamt that tho :) If we do get more Dalek stories Id like to see Aabslom Daak (spelling?) show up. And him not get on very well with the Doctor as the Doc is always usually trying to right things, whereas Daak is always wanting to blow em all to hell. But Im not sure who holds the rights to the character, UK division of Marvel I think.
Antilles
Thats the chap :) Aint seen him in....ooooh years! Well, UK Marvel are (or at least were) the people being Dr Who weekly then monthly (when I was a young teen). Since I no longer get the DWM (Dr Who Magazine..not comic anymore hehe) Im not too sure. But the comic art was great as a kid, Dave Gibbons (Rogue Trooper of 2000AD amongst many) Steve Dillon, great artists. If you ever see any Dr Who comics in the states, grab em, theyd sell well on eBay as collectors items going back to '79-'80+ now that Who is taking off again, merchandise prices tend to rocket in situations like these. Antilles
@ picarddelta4, if youre looking for Aliens Of London Part 2, it does not exist. Its called World War 3 and I believe its up recently. Go HERE! Ive just upped some short 4 x 10 minute audio dramas of Daak and one of Dr Who from waay bak. Didnt even know they existed. For the curious mainly as to who Daak is/was/could be! And the Area 51 Who drama....hmmmm, shades of next weeks story perhaps? :)
Antilles
I was disappointed in his short role in Equilibrium, between him, Christian Bale & Sean Pertwee that made one helluva movie but the other 2 besides Bale should have bigger roles. Loved him as Boromir although strangely I never got into Sharpe, perhaps I didnt like that period in history much!
