What time should the next ST series be based?

Say 5-10 years are past after enterprise is gone, another series is bound to happen. What time period should it be based in? Personally, I'ld like to see something with the 29th... we catch glimpses of it once in a while in Enterprise and there were a few episodes dealing with it in Voyager... Time-ships look cool.

Another thing to consider would be if the series should be focused on a specific ship (like every series but DS9), or a station, or maybe even a colony, outpost, who knows?

Yeah, I voted for 29th century or later as well. The time ships really are cool. Heck, anything having to do with time travel is cool! And when you add a Star Trek flare to it, you have the makings of a successful series IMHO.

Oh, but the fact that you feel that it'll be another 5-10 yrs. before another Star Trek series is very disturbing to me, even though you are probably correct about the time estimate... :(

i go for 29th too.

should givr the designers a hard time trying to come up with new technology ideas for 900 years hence.

plus there will be a hell of a lot of history for the writers to formulate and include in the plot.

also im sick of starfleet being goody twoshoes lovelly have a doily with your tea and cakes vicar.

:mad:its time to kick ass again

AFTER THE 29th CENTURY!!!!

Say some chrono-doomsday device has apparently destroyed the ability to time travel, and the series starts off in the 30th or 31st century. Then we'd be outside of all current Trek lore without the possibility of time-traveling into it. And it should take place in another galaxy, on a new enterprise being the first Star Fleet vessel to explore it. All new technology, all new species, all new space!

Yeah, I'm really sick of the 24th century BS. "We're starfleet. Blah blah blah. Prime directive this, prime directive that. Oh no, we might have violated it. Oh dear, an entire civilization might now know there really is life on other planets. Oh dear. Lets drink some earl grey." BS. I want 29th century technology with TOS style ethics.

I really wouldn't want any 29th century stuff, I always hated the time travel episodes. Although i did enjoy the whole temperal cold war thing. I wouldn't be to pumped about a 29th century star trek though, Doctor Who is enough time travel for me. I also don't think the show could be pulled off that well without being basically the same technology but with time travel.

Say 5-10 years are past after enterprise is gone' date=' another series is bound to happen.[/quote']

Don't count on it.......The word I'm hearing is that everyone is distancing themselves from anything Trek related.

.....Even Manny is now doing a 180.

Dont worry all you Star Trek fans, theres plenty of room in the TARDIS for all of you! :)

No, seriously, its sad to see Trek having a rough time these days, I started losing interest in modern Trek about 3/4 of the way through Voyager and only seem to watch TOS & TNG if Im lucky.

Mirror Mirror on the wall, lol i want to see more of the Terran Empire and slut Hoshi's reign

seriously, though I know it would never be made into a series, i could see some good mirror universe stories based around the concept of the defiants historical records as well as its science becoming common knowledge.

taken logically, if good guys are bad in a mirror, then surely bad guys are good?

You know, everyone loves Section 31 (as introduced in DS9)... maybe the next series should be about an agent in Section 31. That could take place in any time period, but would be a new twist, more like Alias. In th 29th century, that agent could be going back in time to 'fix' history or change things... it would be a dark Trek. I should pitch my idea to Manny :D

That's what I was thinking... what would mirror Klingons be like? I noticed they didn't have any enslaved...

I was more thinking about what mirror borg would be like. Its a creepy thought, at least to me.

How about a series in the Star Trek universe, but not involving Starfleet, the Federation, etc. Rouge explorers, or something? This would probably have to happen during a time period that we haven't seen yet... 25th century sounds like a good. Frankly, I'm just sick of all the federation protocol crap. This series could still deal with Star Trek aliens and technology... it would be neat to see Q show up every once in a while, have battles with borg (although I'm a bit confused by Voyager's ending, are the borg gone for good after that? whats the deal?), etc. But no ties to starfleet. The ship's crew is independant, has bought/built their own ship, and is exploring unknown space independantly. Now that would be fresh...

i like this idea...trek has always (tng especially) been really goody goody...lets move into a more sinister type of trek...going back to fix things sounds a lot like quantium leap...why not have a chase across time searching for the bad guy who keeps trying to screw up the timle line...they would have to fight the ever changing time line as well

I think a series based 10-15 years after DS9 or even a bit later, like the early 25th century, would be great... there is the whole dominion war aftermath to deal with. We could have "free" Jem Hadar in starfleet, as well Cardassians that left the ruins of their civilisation for the greener pastures of the Federation. Border skirmishes with the Breen, scandals with rebuilding Cardassia, exploration in the Gamma Quadrant or the edge of the galaxy.

A few things I'd like to see... a "less-than-perfect" crew... a few main characters dying, a corrupt officer or two, a non-human captain, ships named after non-earth things, some ships in the same "flotilla" that we see often enough, Nog, Icheb, no holodeck malfuctions, no time-travel to earth's past (there are other planets), more Jeffrey Combs, transwarp experiments, more Romulan trechery and scheeming, and finally a good deal of character development. I think these ingredients could produce a good series in a few years.

I'm surprised so many people are in favour of time-travel, considering the poor reception the temporal cold war had with most fans and the viewing public.
