tisjusme
I am not actually sure if I do. I have watched countless tv shows and movies with Ghosts and I still don't beleive 100%. Do you have a Ghost story?
nuages
I'm not really sure if I beleive in ghosts despite having a ghost story. When I was about 7 I was good friends with a girl next door about my same age. Her mother and father had recently seperated or divorced or something or other under bad circumstances. One night the mother thought she heard something in the house and panicked thinking it was her husband(I assume he was a violent guy). She grabbed her two kids and took them to a care in a panic and drove away to her mothers house. In all the anxiety she forgot to break when at a light and drove right underneath a transport truck infront of her killing her and my friend katherine, leaving only the son alive. About 3 weeks later I was sleeping and in the middle of the night woke up and across my room i saw the mother on a stool from our kitchen that was floating in the air and she was playing guitar. I decided to turn around and go straight back to sleep in fright(I'm scared of alot of things :P). Despite having seen what was deffently considered a ghost I still don't neccesarly beleive in them. As I suppost ghost is such a loose deffenition in the way as we don't really know anything about the afterlife. So I saw a ghost when I was a kid and am just confused on the matters of ghosts now. BorisP
Ya there are ghosts. Someones mom died. I was talking to them one day. We were going to the kitchen for something to drink. I was in front and they were in back. I turned around to say something and I very clearly saw the person's dead mother, not the person. I too freaked out and turned around really fast and pretended nothing happened. ;)
GeneralLee
Hmmmm... "Ghost".... great Movie that was... Ghost - The "Astral" body, of a deceased person perhaps, and in a lower astral plane of existance? An aspect of the "soul?" In 1987, I was aboard the USS Midway (an Aircraft Carrier), off the coast of the Phillippines. It was about 2:30 am, and I could not seem to sleep that night. In a state of half-awake-ness, half-asleep-ness, I saw a clear image/vision of my mothers father, one of my grandfathers, appear right in front of me (my eyes, were open). He hovered right above me for quite some time. He smiled at me, and looked so young and healthy, I smiled back. Odd thing was, he appeared to be in his late 30's or early 40's, yet then was about 85 or so. He came to me when he was in his prime, it seemed. And of course, I never knew him at that age (I was about 31-32 years old then). Then, he seemed to wave goodbye, which is what I think brought me to my senses. I bolted out of my "rack" (navy slang for bed), and I KNEW right then, that my grandfather, had just just died. I started to cry a little, but pulled myself together and stopped, then focused myself, and sent only positive thoughts and energy towards him, to perhaps help him on his new journey. I guess you can call that prayer.... Just recounting this, makes me want to weep... as we were VERY close. Anyhow, the next morning, after having little if any sleep, I went to my workcenter on the Midway, and in just a few minutes (about 5-6 hours or so after I had that experience), I received a phone call from the ships chaplan. He informed me, that the ship had just received a Red Cross message, detailing that my grandfather, was dead, and had just died hours before. I told him "I know... he already sent me a message." He could not believe how calmly I told him that, or how I already really knew. He wanted me to stop by his office for grief counseling; to make sure sure I was okay, which I did, and I explained what happened. I was not in grief at all at the time, as I had already gotten "over it," though I was ragged out and dead tired at the time. I read the Red Cross message, my sister had sent it, took a copy of it, and then left his office. Odd thing was, he died of phenomnia in a hospital, and I had no idea at the time he was even sick, or even in a hospital. That part bugged me the most, and still does. My family, had left me out of the loop. Not even a letter or a hint of illness did I have. I think I'll see him again someday though... Every Halloween, Art Bell or George Noory, host a radio show called "Ghost to Ghost AM," instead of the usual "Coast to Coast AM." Sure, "spirits" exist. Wonder how the atheists out there think about that tho.... and I am an ex-atheist...
xtremeskiing
My grandfather died when I was 12. He was a bit religeous and really wanted to live to my bar mitzvah at 13. When we got the pictures back from the photograher from my bar mitzvah, there was an unidentified person. The face was hard to see because of a hat, but enough of the features were visible that it could only be one of two people. First person was my grandfather, the second person was my friends father who was at the party. The only problem is...my friends father was also in the picture. Draw your own conclutions. Right before this happened I was hanging out in my den with the dog. This is right after my grandfather died. I hear something in the living room (up one half level, and in sight) look up and see a dark figure. The dog, alerted by my movement also looked and went in attack mode toward the figure. When she reached the figure, her mood changed and she sat, wagging her tail. She really like my grandfather as he like her. (kinda abnormal cause he was the only person on my moms side to like her). I then got up, approached the figure until it was clearly my grandfather, but he dissappeared before I got close. THe next morning I told my mom, she recounted a "dream" that night in which she spoke to her father. It turns out, this happened to everyone in the house that night, everyone saw him, but he only spoke to my mother. This happened several other times, but never all of us at the same time. Everytime the dog was present, she always got up to greet him, never tried to attack it again though. One by one, we all moved out of the house. One by one we stopped seeing my grandfather. The story of the house was even more freaky, and as a result, we feel the house has some weird power, some of which has followed us. My house was built in one of the origenal suburbs of long island. Right near Levittown, the origenal. THe house was one of the first three in the neighborhood that was built. The origenal owners all died tragically. The husband drowned saving someone. The son died rescuing people from a hotel fire. The wife died in the house, alone in the master bedroom bathroom. THroughout our 14 year residence there, we had the typical haunting stuff. Noises, blinds being closed, windows open, etc. There was also a smell in the shower where the wife died. Only in that shower. We changed the pipes....it still smelled, we changed all the pipes in the house....it still smelled. We changed the pipe right to the main sewer....it still smelled. We tore up the bathroom and rebuilt it....it still smells. From what I hear from the new owners....it still smells. A few monthes ago I was looking out my window...it was snowing, my recently decieased dogs favorite weather. I thought I saw her, then I knew I saw her. I ran outside but she was gone. Left behind however were paw prints. They were unmistakably hers, no other dog in the area was part wolf and left that type of paw print. I knew her print very well, I know it was hers because often I used it to track her when she went wandering (which she always did in the snow)
BorisP
Wow. That story sounds just like the movie Poltergeist. Did they base the movie on your life story?
GeneralLee
WoW.... No one else? Shy? Looks the same here as that "True UFO stories" thread did. "We" can share stories about religion, being gay or straight, but not about our own ghost/spirit experiences, or UFO encounters? Pfffttt!!! hehehe

Your story makes me alot more confident that what I saw was a ghost, although i don't see what it has to do with religion or atheism. The existance of Ghosts doesn't mean there is a God or a creator. GeneralLee
Your story makes me alot more confident that what I saw was a ghost' date=' although i don't see what it has to do with religion or atheism. The existance of Ghosts doesn't mean there is a God or a creator.[/quote'] Just because I typed I am an ex-atheist, doesn't mean I am religious or believe in "God." If you are serious, you must define what a "ghost" is to you then. A "ghost" in my eyes, is just an apparition of an aspect of a persons soul, or "spirit," or sometimes just vibrations left over from severe trauma, that never seem to fade away. A "ghost," *suggests* an afterlife, and an afterlife, falls into a religious vein, so to speak. To me, it''s part of Physics, and it will be proved one day that these other planes or "strings" or whatever, exists, at least for us here on earth. Many people who have had contact with alien beings from other worlds, if true, seem to report that on many of those worlds, these types of things (death, spirits-ghosts, etc.) are foreign to them I bet many think of a "ghost" as in the Casper cartoons.... ;) If a hardcore atheist, or non-believer in such things, suddenlty had an experience of an apparation or experience like that, or even a near death experience, I'm sure they would tend to reconsider. And on that note, in that religion thread from way back when, note I never did say what I really feel or believe about the subject, nor did I state where I am in my conciouss, about it. I may have to edit or revise this, as I am falling asleep as I'm trying to type.... take care
