Mongo
There I was. Sitting there, watching that final episode, and remembering how it was with the original series (Yeah, I'm that old) and how long it was after it went off - and it all got to me. I must confess that to me the original series was great, but the best was TNG. When TNG went off air, I cried then to, but I had two cructhes to get me through - DS9 and Voyager. With Enterprise, I have absolutely nothing to fill my Sci-Fi void. Oh sure I could watch Stargate, but for me that pales in comparision to ST. It is a great series, both of them, but for me ST will always be that thing I used to watch every evening as a child on NBC where Kirk would save the universe and bang another alien babe. Where Picard would learn about another aspect of his family while Data told corny one-liners. Where Sisko would want to lay a beatdown on Quark but never did out of politeness and restraint. Where Janeway would talk smack to the Borg and swagger more than John Wayne after backing up the smack talk. For me it was sad, but there's rumors that have been going around since 2 years ago that give me hope. I only hope the puppet thing isn't the last version we get of such a fine story line that was created so long ago by Gene. And of course I will be around you folks to pester you and tease your pet Ferengi's...
Daedrus
I'm not that old... when I was able to comprehend what I was seeing, TNG was in it's last season. But... the end of Enterprise and perhaps the Star Trek series got to me as well... I guess it's kinda the realization that every week one won't be able to see a new storyline unfold in a not-so-distant future...
Guest c4evap
Tears, idle tears, I know not what they mean, Tears from the depth of some divine despair Rise in the heart, and gather to the eyes, In looking on the happy Autumn-fields, And thinking of the days that are no more. Fresh as the first beam glittering on a sail, That brings our friends up from the underworld, Sad as the last which reddens over one That sinks with all we love below the verge; So sad, so fresh, the days that are no more. Ah, sad and strange as in dark summer dawns The earliest pipe of half-awakened birds To dying ears, when unto dying eyes The casement slowly grows a glimmering square; So sad, so strange, the days that are no more. Dear as remembered kisses after death, And sweet as those by hopeless fancy feigned On lips that are for others; deep as love, Deep as first love, and wild with all regret; O Death in Life, the days that are no more!
