Hi guys,

Am new here so that being the case I was not entirely sure which part of the fourum to post in in order to announce my presence.

Am also a fan of Star Trek as in all Star Trek, even the crap one what was that called now, oh Voyager. As well as being a fan of Trek am also a fan of most Sci Fi movies and Tv shows both new and old with the exception of certain re-imaginings. Anyway I look foreward to trying to converse with you all at some point whenever time permits me.

Live long and prosper...

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Actually I liked the earlier episodes of Voyager best, its the later episodes that were crap. Lets see the writers used the borg so much during the last three seasons that they became far to easy to defeat, though admittedly the Borgs downfall began with the First Contact movie when they introduced the Borg Queen. That kind of became an achillies heel which writers on Voyager pretty much took advantage of. As to what was wrong with Voyager, well I think getting the ship lost for 7 whole years kind of killed it. After season four I just couldn't bear to watch anymore.

Enterprise on the other hand, well first season was ok. Second season totally sucked with the exception of a maybe the opening 3 episodes and the final 2 episodes of that season. Season 3 was ok, it kind of lulled in parts but I liked most of the epiosodes. Season 4 well it has been pretty darn good. I was really into the Mirror Universe episodes they could get an entire show out of that.

As to my Favourite trek show, well am an even split between DS9 and TNG. I feel that those two shows were the best that Modern trek had to offer and Voyager never lived up to the standerd that those two shows set for me, and Enterprise actually came close on a few occasions.

BTW if you recognise the screen name of Sci Fi Pulse, well am the webmaster and sole propriater of scifipulse.net which is probably why it sounds familier.

A friend of mine over at Cylon Alliance recomended this fourum to me. I don't post that often cos well am usually busy with loads of other things. So when I do post, I try to cover as much ground as possible. But there ain't enough pizza in the world for me to cover that much ground, and problem is with all the working out I do between writing news reports and working on my screen play, I always seem to be forever losing ground:)

Wlecome! :)

hey, voy was great B)

First 2 maybe three seasons maybe, last 4 sucked.

And when I say am a fan of all trek I mean it, and being that way am entitled to point out the things I do not like lol. And last 4 years of Voyager kind of sucked from my POV.

I enjoyed where it started, sure Kazon sucked but what I liked about the earlier seasons is what sort of dissapeared in the latter seasons. We started off with loads of animosity between the Starfleet and Maquis people and from my pov I feel that animosity was resolved far to quickly, they could have gotten at least 2 seasons worth out of that. I also did not like the romance between Torress and Paris, I think I liked Paris better when he was a proffessional ass hole.

Ens Kim, well lets face it, had the series had any character development at all he would have been promoted to Lt by time the 3rd season came around.

Things I liked about first 3 seasons, well in spite of the Kazon and stuff the story ideas remained sort of fresh.

I would have liked to have seen Chakotay and Kim given more to do, and thats another thing, sure you may have a strong woman commander on a ship, but that doesn't mean you can have a weak second in command. I always felt that Chakotay should have stood up to her more, maybe even got thrown in the brig a few times. I think it would have been far more interesting dramatically if the chain of command had sort of broken down, sort of make the male personalitys stronger and more on a par withe the female personalitys. Janeway was good, but she had no where near the presence of Major Kira.

I agree the first season, well first two seasons were kind of... weak ;) They could do a lot better with the Kazon. And Ensign Kim should be Lt. by now, I don't know there was only one promotion (exept the one that restored old rank of Paris) in 7 years.

But when 7 of 9 came aboard and the whole "Borg series" started, VOY became really, really interesting.

I liked Janeway, although they made her a "mother" of the crew she was still a firm commander.

Well, 7th season was a little weird, I think they ran out of ideas. And the finale was great, but it lacked a good ending. We know that they did return home... and basically that's it.

To summarize - I like VOY very much. Of course there are some thing that could have been done better, and some weird episodes like "Treshold", but generally it was very fun to watch and I enjoyed it. Still TNG is my favorite though B)

I had difficulty adjusting to a female captain at first, but as the series of Voyager continued, I liked it very much, including the captain.

I don't really see you point, but of course you are entitled to your opinion.

Just next time say: I didn't really like the later episodes of Voyager, rather then implying they're crap.

Thank god that they changed their mind about who was to play the Captian. In the Voyager DVD extras they had a french-canadian woman playing Janeway (as an anglo-canadian, that alone would have ruined it for me, and almost all english speaking citizens in Canada).

All hail Kate Mulgrew, Undisputed Queen of Starfleet Command.

... But it is kinda strange that she became an Admiral before Picard did. He probabally just refused it all these years, like Riker getting his own command.

I agree. Janeway had been years away from home, and when se finally got her crew back to earth, Star Fleet Command would have promoted her to Admiral, since she wasn't going to want to fly a starship around the galaxy again, after her journey.

Admirals are closer to earth, more occupied with interplanetairy diplomacy.

Actually Picard was offered an Admirals post once. I can't remember the name of the episode but it was the season one episode which acted as a pre curser to 'Conspiracy' they offered him the post of overseeing the cadets at Starfleet Acadamy and he basically turned it down.

As to Mulgrew and Janeway well she was never my issue with Voyager. In fact for me the strongest characters in the whole series were Janeway, The Doctor and perhaps Seven Of Nine and Tuvok. My main bone of contention with the whole show was that the lesser characters were never developed as well. Where as in TNG and DS9 the lessor characters saw quite a considerable amount of growth.

I also hated Neelix, he reminded me of a rat.
