ATTN: New Dr. Who Forums

Nite has been kind enough to give us Dr. Who torrenters our own Forums for posting Dr. Who threads. Over the next several days (Im sure it will take that long) I will be moving Dr. Who threads into the proper forums. Please make my job easier and restrict your Dr. Who thread posts to the proper forum, this will help keep things tidy for nite and others who I'm sure are getting tired of our Dr. Who stuff cluttering up their Star Trek discussions etc.

Thanks

Yep!!! If you can make our lives easier that would be great, thanks!

I spent most of this morning moving the remaining Dr. Who threads from Sci-Fi to the first Who forum, and now I have been moving the threads again.

So it's nice to know you're there with me as well Tin!

You need to get your Avatar back up and running tho, I miss it!

Check your forum PM btw.

I would also like to say it's going to be cool to work with you on this tin :) Between us we should be able to move most of them fairly quickly :)

Hehe, that sort of reminds me of the Grim Reaper in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. When B & T compliment Station's butt he replies with something like:

"Don't overlook my butt, reaping burns a lot of calories"

edit: Bah, sort of doesn't make sense now

  • 2 weeks later...

I think it will be slower, but then again you never know there's so much more to Doctor Who than the new series. There's the discussion about the older shows and people are bound to discover the new show even after it ceases its run until the Christmas special.

I think there's life in the forums for the old blue box yet :)

well I hope your right . i am still trying to figure out how I will spend my Saturdays once the show goes int hiatus . I was thinking of buying a calendar and start scratcing out the days lol

Once the season ends I think it would be a great opportunity for the new fans to get deeper into the classic series and enjoy the old stories and can start having heavier discussions on that era. How about us fans here running a weekly or bi-weekly schedule of old stories (perhaps in order) and then ask new/old fans to download and/or watch that story and discuss what we all think of it. It would certainly fill in the empty weekends. :-)

RS,

That's a GREAT! idea! It would certainly be something to help people like me, and others, who are slowly trying to understand "Who" more and get/watch some of the older shows. Until not very long ago, I really knew nothing at all about any of the Doctor Who shows, new or old.

Ok doke, so lets wait until after 'Parting of the Ways' and we can do a schedule thread and start with 'An Unearthly Child' only trouble is itll take more than a year if we do 1 story per week. Any more suggestions to speed things along for the hiatus period to get new fans up to speed on important (or at least the best) stories of old! Quite looking forward to it myself, I know a lot of people just download the files and say thanks but very few people actually discuss the old stories like we do the new show! :)

There was a thread awhile back where several people disccused what shows would be good ones to indroduce Doctor Who to new viewers. Going over that would probably help in regards to some sort of order. Straight in order isn"t a ood idea for Who. Many of the show"s definining moments don't pop up until the 70s.

So, should it be more like an Enlish assignment in school?

Class, tell me what your favourite Doctor Who episode was, and why, in 50 wordz or less.

All kidding aside, if we try a format like this, fav. episode, why, & highlights. We might be able to help some of the newer fans.

look I would skip everything from before ep 50 . start every one off with War Games and they can get a feel of the real power of the Time Lords

while this ep is a bit long and drawn out its a vital part to learning about the Dr . I would use that as a starting point and move forward . too much reconstructed eps and stuff before that and they may lose interest
