Potato
As a Trek fan' date=' I have one favorite episode for the Classic Series, Next Gen, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. In my mind, each has had that one moment or moments that just seem to stand above the rest. Is there 1 difinitive episode of Doctor Who that out shines the rest, or if that is too hard, does each Doctor have his moment? If so, which would they be?[/quote'] I have at least one favourite for each Doctor but again that's just personal opinion...I believe I listed them all in my previous post in reverse doctor order from 7th to 1st....for 8th there is only one tv story so your stuck with that...I've only seen rose so I can't reccomend any new ones but you've probably already seen them if your looking for classic. Fenriswolf
I will always recommend: The Unquiet Dead from the new show, and any of the old episodes even Colin Baker's era, but Tom Baker's era is full of the best stories imho.

krimxin
Love the list coolcat. I have printed out the list as well as some of the other highlights others have given and hope to begin my Who downloading at once. It is so much fun finding a series that I enjoy so much yet have so much to explore. I can only hope the next Doctor will be as wonderful as the 9th. Fenriswolf
You can also try the 7th Doctor though stay away from the Hapiness Patrol, Delta and the Bannermen for certain. Time and the Rani was not too bad and it did bring the Rani and the Master back.

Fenriswolf
tinpusher, I think, has everything you could want to get your paws/hands/appendages on. I don't think there's anything sad about wanting a complete collection of Doctor Who, it's a wonderful series - I'd love a collection like that myself. GorunNova
<- agrees... and is almost there, short of Patrick Troughton, some of Jon Pertwee, and much of Tom Baker...

Fenriswolf
Good call on the 7th Doctor, the Curse of Fenric is one of my personal favourites and as for the 9th Doctor, Unquiet Dead still reigns supreme for me.
coolcat13
nice list Cypha1 would agree on about 90% of those maybe add Armagedon to the Baker series and Frontios and Planet of the Daleks to the Pertwee series
Cypha01
Good call on the 7th Doctor' date=' the Curse of Fenric is one of my personal favourites and as for the 9th Doctor, Unquiet Dead still reigns supreme for me.[/quote'] I think he's the best personally ! definitly the master of strategy, and allways loved the "Dark/ancient more than just another time lord" thing :D
underscore
the abominable snowmen episode 2 web of fear episode 1 Tomb of the cybermen The mind robber episode 1 The chase inferno city of death nightmare of eden The early stuff is the best imo
coolcat13
the middle stuff was my favorite - from Pertwee to Davison was the hieght of the Dr Who era for me . The early eps were alright but seem to drag a bit and the frailty of the 1st Dr was a bit annoying . The later stuff was rather mediocre in general but I was not a fan of McCoy or C Baker either .I still watch any and all things that are Dr Who I just find some of it way more entertaining . in fact when I put newbies onto the show I generally loan them my T Baker Davison and Pertwee episodes for viewing . This generally hooks them in :)
Fenriswolf
Good call on the 7th Doctor' date=' the Curse of Fenric is one of my personal favourites and as for the 9th Doctor, Unquiet Dead still reigns supreme for me.[/quote'] I think he's the best personally ! definitly the master of strategy, and allways loved the "Dark/ancient more than just another time lord" thing :D It was a shame they didn't bring that side more to the front near the start of his run, it might have repaired some of the damage to show inlficted earlier on. kyran
I hope to download as many as I can but with SO many episodes to choose from, its hard to know where to start. It is like a huge buffet being placed before a starving man. I have a micro-network of scifi friends that I have been giving the new Whos to and they are also ready for more. Maybe, instead of a crash course, my best bet is to download an episode list and just try to start from the Unearthly Child and move forward. I just didn't want to waste time with rubbish episodes. I am still working on getting all the Treks! Ahh, so little bandwidth, so many downloads...Thanks for the suggestions thus far. I will avoid the gunfighters as suggested until I have the better episodes. Any others I should skip? bad episodes? what bad episodes everyone has off days , the doctor does too ,but they are all part of his life so you gotta watch them too don't forget while your watching the episodes that they a real (pretend) history of someones life. you gotta suspend your belief a bit

I guess the reason for that is because the writers of his first season wernt even writing it for anyone in particular, I'v heard that they were written for colin baker then changed to suit "any doctor" because they didnt know who they were writing for. I allways thought it was a shame he didnt have the other two seasons he was contracted for.
Fenriswolf
Sir Michael Grade is to blame for that my friend, who is now eating humble pie since Doctor Who 2005 has been such a success, he was openly 'adoring' the show in a public speech and when questioned about why he took it off the air his reply was something like: "An earlier incarnation of mine took it off the air, somewhat foolishly, but you live and learn...especially in Wales."
