It just sort of fizzled out after Bad Wolf, so I was dissappointed. I was also disappointed about how unimaginative the design team were with the Emperor Dalek. They just stuck a normal, but large Dalek head on top of a stand. I think that the original Emperor was better, who had a totally different look to the Daleks.

I also think that the Daleks were a bit lame to, backing away from the Doctor and talking of worship and blasfamy and it was all because of waiting. WAITING!!! The Daleks have wait centuries, millenia even and been just as ruthless as always. I hope they return in the 3rd season in the traditional grey and black, with all the ruthlessness of the old Daleks that we all know and love. I was also disappointed that there wasn't more invasion action going on. I think they should have had some invasion footage and less emotional scenes of which there were too many. A truly mute ending and a poor attempt at copying Dalek Empire III.

Having said all that, I do think Eccleston was great and so was captain Jack.

well unless you wasnt watching a different version, the daleks couldnt actually exterminate the dr in that scene, secondly I dont think the main part of this was actually about the daleks themselfs but actually rose, the dr and the tardis and the relationship between them.

Dr Who has never really been about all out action and special effects but the story that it tells, this was no acception, it would of been easy to let the CGI take over this episode but again like most of this season it was heavy on the characters with the CGI actually just assisting in the telling of the story.

The empoerer scene was great, intresting as well with a nice twist to it.

I agree with neomaster here as if the CGI and action were a main part then the whole Bad Wolf theory and the Character relationships would be lame - there would be no real DRAMA which the new season of Doctor Who has cleverly adopted and has brought Doctor Who into the 21st century

This episode was great as were all the others that preceeded it. And by the way, you watch a sci-fi movie for specials effects... you watch (and keep watching) a sci-fi serial for the story line(s). Long live the Doctor... whoever he/she/it might be. :-)

Loved the episode. I like the way the Doctor told Rose what was happening and why. The companions ususally never know what is going on when a regeneration happens. Now we all have another reason to look forward to Christmas!!

FANTASTIC!!

Just a side note...er...question...was anyone else disappointed that Davros never made an appearance? I was so hoping...:(

Maybe he did. There has been a lot of speculation about Davros being the Emperor Dalek back in the old series. It all sort of depends on which side won the "Dalek Civil War".

Hrm. Anybody else think that was a bit heavily on the deus ex machina type deal there at the end? "Oh look, the time vortex from inside the TARDIS took over Rose and now everything is OK." (Except for the Doctor, of course.)

I dunno. Just found it a bit less than satisfying or something.

Yes, I agree that it was too deus ex machina there. I have a feeling the episode was hastily rewritten to accomodate the doctor's regeneration.

The Bad Wolf element was pretty cool tho, never saw that coming in a million years.

As much as the Daleks are tradition, they have become like the Borg for me, just no longer shocking. Watching some of the old episodes they seemed much more....well evil!

I don't think Rose has romantic feelings for the doctor, you can be jealous of other woman in your dad's life too:) And the kiss at the end of this episode wasn't really romantic as much as it was affectionate. The Doctor has never been romantically involved in his history and I hope it stays that way.

Captain Jack is a great character. Anyone know if the actor's signed on for next season? And btw did you guys know he was from Scotland? Hell of an American accent there!

I was sad to see Lynda die:( Why couldn't Rose have resurrected her too!? For that matter, what about the Earth and all? Maybe she did and we just didn't see it.

Well, guess I'll just go in the corner and watch repeats until Christmas.....

I wasn't too impressed.

1) No idea how they suddenly jury rigged a force field.

2) the whole bit with rose and her personal drama and mickey and such has bored me to tears this whole episodes ... we had more of that now ugh

3) If the daleks knew the delta wave generator was being created, I don't know why they didnt just scatter instead of heading for sure death (or relying on the doctor not being able to pull the trigger ... whatever)

also they wasted an awful lot of time trying to get to him. They head down to killl civilians and such.

4) the controller woman knows that the daleks monitor everything ... but how did she get enough power and technology to transmat the doctor ... from the TARDIS ... and probably through time.

5) The deus ex machina was a little irritating. Suddenly the badwolf clue (one of which was a verbal clue) gets this pat explanation ... which also fixes everything. (though umm ... didnt nearly everyone on earth die).

6) given how easily the daleks were defeated ... it's a wonder that the entire race of time lords was destroyed trying to kill off the daleks. It's the race which conquered time and space and built the tardises. One of them could have sacrificed a regeneration to wipe out all the daleks. much cleaner.

7) in general I don't like the rose mania. For whatever little she does the doctor is a bit too much in love with her. He's never been that way with other companions and I preferred that.

I've been getting less and less impressed with the daleks over the course of dr who from the beginning. In the beginning they were cunning and ruthless ... though they didn't possess fantastic technology ... the doctor was never armed.

later over time they became more and more powerful but dumber over time.

On a seperate note .... things I'm left wondering about after this episode.

a) What would they have done had eccleston stayed? Would have screwed up the ending if there were no consequences.

b) Didn't almost everyone on earth die in the future

c) poor jack

d) something I wondered about. Rose asks the doctor why he couldn't go back in time to fix the problem ... I didn't really understand the answer. Anyone wanna elaborate.

Plus it's not like the time lords and the doctor haven't tried before. In genesis of the daleks the doctor is sent back in time to when the daleks were being created to try and destroy them before they are born. Due to various moral considerations the doctor keeps shying away from blowing them up.

They used the 'surf-board' from episode 10. If you watch carefully you can see Jack carrying it around.

To me it looked like they sent 3 daleks down to kill the people on level 000. Considering how many daleks were leaving the mothership I don't think it would have much impact on the time getting to the doctor.... ;)

I think with the daleks we get used to them as we have got older hence why they dont seem as shocking, I watched the resurrection of the daleks and i cant say they seemed any more or less evil than the daleks in this episode. To be honest I loved the fact that they actually did the daleks in a different way.

I think you will find rose actually restored all the people that where killed and not just captain jack

I dont think all the daleks are destroyed, remember the three that ann droid disposed off, it didnt actually destroy them but transmatted them so they still could be floating around somewhere.

1. Jack actually had used the extrapolator to generate the forcefield.

2 and 7. Remember that Dr Who is not just outright Sci-Fi, it has to have a human feel to it as well mainly due to it being a family show and not just aimed at us sci fi fans. Dr Who has had to change with the modern times, last thing we want is for it to be cancelled again (cant see that happening in a while).

d. Rose asked if he couldnt go back the week before, the doctor states that he cant as he and the tardis are stuck in the time line.

I've been getting less and less impressed with the daleks over the course of dr who from the beginning. In the beginning they were cunning and ruthless ... though they didn't possess fantastic technology ... the doctor was never armed.

I think we are just getting used to them being on the TV, same happened to the borg in star trek if you remember.

The doctor wasnt armed in the last episode, he built the delta wave but didnt actually use it, which goes with what he used to do in the older episodes such as genesis of the daleks where he couldnt plant the bomb in the dalek nursery and ended up regreting not blowing it up.

I have just got done downloading and watching it twice.

1. The Doctor and Roses kiss reminded me of when the Master kissed Grace. More of a kiss of life than anything else. To draw out the energy.

2. Sometimes when Rose was speaking when she had the vortex in her, I really wonder if that was the Tardis speaking through her. To me it sounded like two personallities.

3. Nice to see Mickey and Rose's mom again.

4. These Daleks were not as scary as the others. They had religon. I found them irritating.

I hope they return in the 3rd season in the traditional grey and black' date='[/quote']

Don"t you mean silver and blue? And why not in the 2nd season?

The only silver and blue Daleks were in the black and white series and were only those colours because they showed up on the screen.

The Cybermen will be in the secind season, as it's their 40th anniversary and it would be stupid to put the Daleks in there, as they would take the limelight. Also, you shouldn't have the Daleks in every season, as it would take some of the excitement away from their appearances. I also hope that they will return to the Imperials Vs the Renegades and/or use the Big Finish-made Seriphia galaxy.

Never mind the CGI, I was mostly disappointed at how useless the Daleks actually were and the lazy storyline. I do however think that the Vortex itself being Bad Wolf was a nice idea. I thought it would probably have been the TARDIS. I didn't think much of the Doctor kissing Rose though.
