I love the Cybermen, especially the 80's ones. "Earthshock" is one of the best Dr who stories in my opinion ! brutal stuff.

I hope the new ones look somethine like the ones from REAL TIME too. I really loved that design, they looked more brutal and powerfull but still undeniably Cybermen!

Other monsters id like to see ?

Well they proved they can do "epic space war stuff"

So it would be awesome to get a 2-part story based around a Sontaran/Rutan War !!

I'd love to see the Master return myself, and some of the older classic Who villains. What could the team do with some of our old favourites I wonder?

I agree with you about the Master. He's one of my favorite characters.

As far as other villans, I don't know. The Black Guardian was good.

On the last enstallment of the CBC website documentary about Dr. Who

Planet of the Doctor

you saw the drawings for a cartoon series that never got off the ground.

The Cybermen were the most interesting ones.

Thanks for sharing that.

Those documentaries look interesting. I hope someone will torrent them.

The Daleks did not exeperience significant redesign because Terry Nation's copywright prohibited it. Considering how different the sonic screwdriver and TARDIS look, I have a feeling the Cybermen will be alot different.

Yes, I think they'll be more agile and thinner, almost like a Rastan robot (5 Doctors).

I would really like to see more of the Sontarans and Rutans.

I'd like to see a new version of K-9....

I think the redesign of the Daleks was pretty spot on. I love their rotational middle section now giving them a true 360 degree fire arc.

The new sonic screwdriver has taken me a while to get used to, but overall I think it's pretty cool.

I adore the new TARDIS and the Console Room. I was a big fan of the TVM Console so this echoes that and looks much more alien.

As for the Cybermen, I think they'll stick with a kind of traditional design but as you say, make it slimmer and more aesthetically pleasing. A bit like the Rastan, yeah, good example.

A new look K-9 might be cool, but I would like to see the old dog with some new tricks!

Who would like to bet that they'll derive an ep from Spare Parts in some way for the new series?

Edit: And if they did... would they use the old Cyberman setup like in that audio play (unlikely) or use it as an origin for the new updated Cybermen? (more likely)

Edit 2: Funny thing... they imply in Spare Parts that the old Cybermen were not affected by gold... Interesting...

To answer abitrarily things that have been brought up without quoting the originals:

A Rutan appeared in Horror of Fang Rock.

K-9 will probably appear as the old version and then be upgraded by the Doctor to a new look.

Faster Cybermen would be cool but don't make them smaller.

If you read Iceberg by David Banks, he also makes the ascertion that earlier Cybermen were not vulnerale to gold.

Good night.
